How long has the team been playing in the leagues?

Right from the start of the Rounder’s Club Starting 2013.  Previously under the name 50 Shades of Awesome (haha!) We re-invented ourselves the following year.

Do your team practice/train

We haven’t managed to get our full team together this Indoor League due to work, family commitments and injuries, but some of the team when they are able, practice at the Indoor Sessions held by the Burnley Leisure Team.  We do try and practice outdoors prior to the summer league and some of our children come along and play (You never know they might be the rounder’s players of the future)

Who is the team joker?

We don’t have one specific joker, we all have our own `funny` ways and we all have a laugh and joke together

Why does your team love playing Rounders in our leagues?

We absolutely love the banter you sometimes get between teams when playing against each other.  The friendly side and the competitiveness you get in games play’s a massive part in making it a more enjoyable experience and motivates you to turn up each week.  Also being part of a team of ladies who all support each other and get on well is a bonus.  We definitely have lots of laughs and dribbles oops! (I mean giggles).

A few quotes from the 4th Base girls, I think pretty much sums up all of our feelings about Rounders :-

“I have made some friends for life, it’s a great way to socialise and hopefully I have set a great example to my children”

“Being a teacher, I have taught children how to play rounder’s, umpired and coached them for many years, and even some of those `past pupils` are now playing for teams in the Burnley Rounder’s league!”

“I loved playing at school.  We might as a team be knocking on the 40 door or beyond, but we prove that no matter what age you are, you can still be involved in a sport that you love” #THESEGIRLSCAN

Social side – add a few examples of the social side of your team.

Generally we get together once a year for a team night out.  Most memorable one was when one of the ladies (naming no names) decided to empty the contents of her stomach into her Radley handbag…..nothing to do with the copious amounts of alcohol consumed prior…yeah right! lol

Some of the girls were friends prior to playing rounder’s, spending time together on social outings throughout the year.  The team attend the end of season presentation evenings which is another excuse to leave our `understanding partners/husbands` to hold the fort at home.

Why should a potential new player join your team?

We are a friendly group of ladies who enjoy the game whether we win or lose (do prefer to win though haha, but who doesn’t).

We have a few new ladies who have joined us over the past year and feedback from them “We have been welcomed with open arms”
