School Swimming Instructor  

To cover Maternity Leave

Salary – Grade 4 (£8.88 per hour)     19.5 Hours per week (Term Time Only)

We presently have a vacancy for delivering our school swimming programme during term time only, teaching school children and providing structured courses in a comfortable, pleasant and safe environment.  Applicants must be highly motivated and enthusiastic swimming instructors and able to deliver a comprehensive Learn to Swim programme, undertake continual professional development and attend seminars.

The post will require you to work closely with local primary and secondary school partners in the delivery of the A.S.A. National Teaching Plan and Burnley Leisure’s Learn to Swim programme.

Applicants must possess either ASA/UKCC Level 2 Certificate for teaching Aquatics/Coaching Swimming/or STA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming.  Possession of RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification OR Rescue Test for Swimming Teachers and Coaches is essential.  Appointment to the post is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service.

Project Activator – 30 hours per week

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our successful Sport and Play Development Team.  We are seeking to recruit a committed team player with excellent communication skills and the energy to take on a central role in our Active Streets project.

Experienced in sports development, coaching and working with young people, the post holder will be responsible for the on-going delivery of diversionary sport programmes with a specific emphasis on training, education and employment pathways

The Project Activator will also be responsible for supporting and developing the volunteering service within Burnley Leisure, as this is fundamental to the success and sustainability of the Active Streets project, events, and holiday schemes on the project.

YOUNG MECHANICS – Lead Artist

Lead Artist wanted for new programme at Burnley Mechanics engaging 12 – 19 year olds in regular arts activity.

If you have experience working with young people, and you are passionate about the arts, then we would love to hear from you.  Your main art form might be music, visual art, writing, or photography – anything will be considered except drama. You will also have skills in other art forms, and the capacity to develop new skills, which you will then be able to share with the participants.

Casual Activity Leader

Our Getin2 Team delivers sport and play activities to children during the school holidays and we are looking to recruit suitable individuals to join us on a casual basis as Activity Leaders to deliver the following roles:
  • School Holiday Activity Clubs
  • Park activity sessions
  • Roller discos
  • Birthday parties

As an activity leader you will need to demonstrate a positive and professional attitude and be able to communicate and engage with children in a Holiday Club setting.  You must also be able to plan and deliver fun, innovative and engaging activities to children between the ages of 5 and 13 in a sports centre setting. We want the children to have an amazing time at our holiday clubs and that will be down to the team of staff and volunteers.  If you think that you have the qualities it takes then we want to hear from you.

You must have a recognised Level 1 Qualification in play/sport or child care.  You must also have experience of instruction in sport and/or play activities and of working directly with children and young people.  Appointment to this post is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.  This post requires flexible working hours as our projects take place during school holidays and our roller discos and birthday parties take place on evenings and weekends.

We expect high standards and in return we offer the successful candidates excellent rates of pay, along with training and support and the opportunity to gain further qualifications.

Casual Recreation Attendant

General duties include the day to day operations of leisure facilities at St Peters and Padiham Leisure Centres. You would be responsible for the supervision of swimming pools, high standards of cleanliness, erecting and dismantling equipment and customer care. Both Padiham and St Peter’s Leisure Centres offer industry leading exercise facilities; all the latest classes and gym equipment with a true passion to reach out to those that don’t just want to exercise but want to change their lifestyle.  If you have a passion for fitness and wellbeing, we are looking for an innovative individuals to join our successful Fitness Instructor Team.

You must hold a recognised qualification in your specific activity at level 2 standard or above.  You must be an experienced Instructor able to deliver Aerobic Fitness Programs and Gym Instruction at both of our leisure centres. We would particularly welcome applicants trained in the following areas; Spinning, Aqua Yoga, Pilates and any Group Mossa program.
