There’s still time to enter the Padiham Aquathlon 2017, which takes place at the leisure centre on Sunday, 2nd April.
Organisers at Burnley Leisure say they are still accepting entries for the popular swim and run event, which is now in its fourth year following the inaugural race in 2014.
The competition, which is made up of a 600m swim followed by a 5km run, caters for beginners and experienced athletes alike.
The swim phase of the event takes place in the main pool at Padiham Leisure Centre. On leaving the water, competitors head out on foot into the adjoining Padiham Greenway before returning to the finish line at the leisure centre.
To enter online go to http://burnleyleisure.co.uk/activity/padiham-aquathlon/. Competitors for the main aquathlon event must be aged 14 years or over.
Garry Stein, assistant manager at Burnley Leisure, said: “Whether they are professional level competitors or complete beginners, all entrants are guaranteed to receive a warm welcome from us. The event is a great opportunity for people to try a new type of event and I would encourage everyone to book early as the number of participants is limited.”
Youngsters aged 8 and 13 are also welcome to join the multi-sport event and test their strength in the junior aquathlon taking place on the same day.
There will be different swimming and running distances for the youngest participants based on their age.
The junior aquathlon run has now a new course which takes in laps around the new wooden sculptures at the bottom of Memorial park on the Padiham Greenway.
