An innovative Burnley Leisure fitness programme has helped Burnley women shape up in time for the party season.
In just ten weeks a group of six women have lost more than 35 pounds in total and been pleased to see 55 inches disappearing from their waist, hips and thighs.
The ‘Drop it like it’s hot’ programme has seen the women change their eating habits. Now they are true coverts to a balanced healthy eating plan, which includes the correct amount of protein, carbohydrates, fat, and lots of fresh vegetables and fruit.
They have learned to count calories, understand food labels, and judge when the feeling of being hungry is really because they are thirsty or bored.
On top of that, they have had access to over 80 exercise classes at Burnley Leisure over the course of the programme. – most have gone along three or four times a week and enjoyed kettle bells, circuits, spinning and boot camp.
Karen Cannon, who joined the programme to whip back into shape, said: “After completing the course my fitness level is fantastic. I’ve enjoyed learning how to use the gym properly as well as taking part in all the classes on offer.
“The instructors had been great at keeping me motivated and making sure I am being pushed to my limits. I’ve met some lovely people who made me enthusiastic in going to the group sessions. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to shake up their training routine and learn new techniques.”
Each of the women are determined to carry on with their new regime and continue to lead new healthier lifestyles.
Elaine Adams-Gilligan, health and fitness manager at Burnley Leisure, said: “The programme has been a tremendous success and has proved popular with women.
“It is devised to help participants, both men and women, to kick-start their fitness goals, regain body confidence, and learn to lead a healthy lifestyle.”
The cost of the 10-week course is £99 pounds and includes free access to all Burnley Leisure facilities and classes. The next course starts on 25th January and is set to finish on 1st April. Places are limited and spaces are filling up fast so book your place now to avoid disappointment.
