Burnley Leisure is on the lookout for rounders enthusiasts to join its squad in the attempt to break a world record on Sunday, 20th March.
With an event held at Towneley Park at 11am, the leisure team aims to set a new Guinness record for the most people in a rounders match with two innings being played.
The record is currently held by Southampton with 76 rounders players. Burnley Leisure is looking to almost double the number and recruit 120 people.
The leisure trust is calling for support from local residents to help bring the title home.
Rounders fans 13 years old and over are invited to register for just £5 for the chance to become an official world record holder.
Every participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt on the day and a golden bat by the event sponsor Arreson, when the record attempt is verified.
All proceeds will be donated to the Sport Relief charity and the Burnley Leisure charity working with local children from the community.
Janet Roundell, Burnley Leisure’s development officer, said: “I’d like to invite all Burnley and Padiham residents to rekindle the love for the game and join us at Towneley Park next month. It’s such an amazing chance for communities to come together and do something incredibly fun.
“We’ve been running successful rounders summer and winter leagues for the past three years with more than 500 women taking part. Our leagues have been featured nationally a number of times and it would be fantastic to claim the world record title, once again putting Burnley on the map as a town that loves playing rounders.”

Towneley Park will be buzzing with people on the day with not one but two events taking place.
The Burnley Mile will be kicking off at 10.30am as part of this year’s Sport Relief giving people the opportunity to run themselves proud.
People have the option of walking, running or skipping one, three or six miles around the park. To enter visit www.sportrelief.com.
