We are offering a wide range of fun events and activities for everyone to enjoy across our venues. From Holiday Clubs for the little-ones, brand new menus at our bistros and restaurants to catch up with family and friends, an ice-cream parlour and boating lake at The Boathouse to enjoy the warm weather, a wide range of golf activities for all ages at Prairie Sports Village and Towneley Golf Club, all your favourite leisure activities including outdoor gym classes at Padiham Leisure Centre and St Peter’s Leisure Centre (don’t forget to refer a friend to win £5k this summer!) and after what feels like the longest wait, our much-loved shows and performances are back at Burnley Mechanics Theatre!

Our 9-hole mini golf course at Prairie Sports Village has been inspired by famous golf holes from around the world. Bring along family and friends – and your competitive spirit – to tackle the twists and turns and slopes and bridges of their beautifully landscaped course.
Prairie Sports Village Golf Driving Range is powered by Toptracer Range which will help you practice like the professionals. Whether you’re a seasoned or first-time golfer, or just looking to have a laugh with your friends Toptracer Range Technology has an activity for you…
Challenge your friends to games of Long Drive, Go Fish, Scramble or beat your personal best drive using the same technology used to trace a pro tour player’s shots on TV.

3G Pitch Hire
If you fancy a kick-about with friends, why not book one of our 3G 6-a-side pitches at the Prairie Sports Village for only £30. All ages welcome.
1955 Kitchen & Bar
Recently renovated, the NEW 1955 Kitchen & Bar at Prairie Sports Village is the perfect place to eat, drink, socialise and work. With a brand new menu and opening times, we’re sure you won’t be disappointed. Not to forget that the 1955 Kitchen & Bar is one of the only places you’re allowed to drink & ‘drive’ (on the driving range of course!).
197 Bistro & Bar
The 197 Bistro & Bar at Towneley Golf Club is one of Burnley’s best rated places to eat, renowned for its delicious food and its warm and friendly atmosphere. Open Tuesday to Sunday 9am-3:30pm for what is rated one of Lancashire’s best breakfasts, along with a fresh, innovative lunch menu.
1855 Kitchen & Bar – REOPENING
The Mechanics Bistro will be back in business from Monday 6th September, renamed 1855 Bistro & Bar tying into the date the Mechanics first opened its doors. It feels that long ago since we were able to wine and dine customers in our fantastic bistro. Open Monday to Saturday 11am-3pm and for pre-theatre dining two hours before each performance starts.
The Boathouse Café
Located in the very popular Thompson Park, the Boathouse Café provides refreshments in this historic and central green space. So whether you’re riding on the train, sliding in the playground, paddling in the lido or rowing round the boating lake, be sure to visit the café for a thirst-quenching drink and cooling hand-scooped ice cream or a hot drink and a bacon butty,
Leisure & fitness activities
Our much-loved St Peter’s Holiday Club and Football and Golf Camp will be back this summer for your little-ones to make new friends, learn new skills and keep active throughout the holidays! Keep an eye out on our social media for updates on dates and bookings.
Crash Course Swimming Lessons
The perfect way for children to enjoy their time off during school holidays whilst improving their swimming abilities. They are also an ideal way to introduce a non-swimmer (aged 3+), to the water before booking onto a 10 week block of lessons. Crash courses take place during every half term and summer holidays. A crash course consists of five half hour lessons from Monday to Friday.
Boating & Kayaking
Try our colourful kayaks and spend some relaxing time on the Boating lake at Thompson Park, Burnley. Our range of Fatyak kayaks are the latest design in sit-on-top kayak, which means you don’t need any previous experience to be able to use them.
We have a range of fun golf activities to enjoy alone, with the family or with your friends. From mini golf to the Toptracer driving range, there really is something for everyone.
Active Streets is a project funded through the BIG Lottery Reaching Communities Fund and its Partners to provide community engagement sessions. From youth engagement, holiday clubs, Active Football and Active Volunteering there is a lot going on and a lot to get involved in over the summer.
Your much loved fitness classes are now (every finger crossed) back for good! We are currently providing classes at Padiham Leisure Centre and St Peter’s Leisure Centre, online and outdoors! View our timetable and book your classes. Don’t forget you can also refer a friend to Burnley Leisure and win £5k of prizes this summer (plus you’ll have a workout buddy to keep you motivated!).
At Burnley Leisure we have a range of swimming activities on offer, from much-loved lane swimming to Parent and Toddler Swimming Sessions, there’s an activity for everyone to keep cool in the water this summer!
Join us for National Playday – a day dedicated to children’s play – and after the year they’ve had, we think they deserve it! Join us on Wednesday 4th August 1pm-3pm at Thompson Park, Burnley for a FREE day of fun!
We are running mixed rounders sessions for all ages and abilities every Wednesday 7pm-8pm at Burnley High School. Come along and join in the fun and make new friends.
Health Walks with Bob
Join us every Tuesday at 9:45am (10am start) at St Peter’s Centre car park for a 45 minute caring, sharing, walking, talking group. All abilities welcome! (Sorry, no dogs).

After what has felt like the longest year and a half, we are so happy that the Mechanics Theatre is back open with some amazing theatre, music, and events.
